August 2010

Message from Youth Pastor, Brandon Price
First let me say this has been an incredible summer. We have had a great time at the UTURN In House all summer as well as a great trip to New Mexico and Hume Lake! Thanks to everyone who was a part of this summer!

Coming soon we will begin our school ministry schedule. Beginning September 1st we will have our first FAMILY GATHERING. This year the first one will be extra special as we are combining with Christie Miller and the children’s ministry to worship with all our families. Please make this Wednesday a priority for your family as God has called you to be the spiritual leader of your family.

After the Family Gathering we will go back to our UTURN NIGHTS each Wednesday of the month: 1st Wed. Family Gathering; 2nd Wed. Coffee House; 3rd Wed. BIG WEDNESDAY; 4th Wed. In House; if there is a 5th Wed. we will encourage families to use it to their benefit. Each Wednesday will begin at 7:15 PM and end at 9:00 PM, and will be on church campus with the exception of In House. This schedule will be given at the first Family Gathering! We will also have our small group ministry kicking off in September. Be watching for details and we will introduce the small group leaders at the Family Gathering! We are looking forward to serving you and your family!

Rock Solid Junior High in the Fall
I had a great time with everyone this summer and am now getting ready for the fall semester. As you gear up for this coming school year, please pray for Rock Solid as we start meeting in the armory on Wednesday nights. We will kick of our first meeting September 1st with Family Gathering in the Worship Center at 6:45 p.m. We are inviting all Junior High and Senior High School students and families. Every first Wednesday of the month after this will be our Family Gathering meeting. Each Wednesday night that is not Family Gathering we will be meeting from 6:30- 8:00 p.m. in the Armory for games, teaching time and small groups. We will not be having our afterschool program in the fall as in past years. If this is an inconvenience for you or your child needs a place to go, please talk with me and we can work something out.

Also, we are in need of Junior High small group leaders. If you or someone you know is interested in helping in this ministry, please let me know. Investing in the lives of young people is so important and good helpers are always needed. Small group leaders must be committed each Wednesday from 6-8:15 p.m.

Sincerely,
Andy Tiner, Youth Director, Cell (559) 805-7913

NEW THIS YEAR!
I want to introduce you to Eric York. Many of you may already know him as he grew up in our church. He is back and serving as our UTURN Intern and has been with us all summer! He is doing such an excellent job we have asked him to continue on with us during the school year. I’ll let him tell you how God has directed him to us over the past year and his desire to serve in our ministry.

Hey, for those that don’t know me, my name is Eric York. Although I’ve only been back serving at TFBC for a few months, I’m already encouraged to see how God is at work here! To give you a bit of a background, I have finished my Bachelors degree at Fresno State in December and since then moved back to Tulare. For a while I struggled with holding on to my own plans and not giving them up to God, even though I had a strong desire to work with youth. This last Spring Break I had the chance to pray with two children to receive Christ for the first time, and, immediately, my perspective on life and living for God was radically changed. Shortly after I was brought on as the UTURN Intern and have been serving here since. In addition to this, I am also a substitute teacher for the high schools here in Tulare. This has been a great opportunity for me to share God’s love to those students who might not ever step foot in a church building. Where I am now, it is my desire that God would use me and continue to use me to disciple those students in the high school age group. I am super excited that I get to be a part of this ministry, and it is my prayer that God continues to draw these students closer to Him!
