I would like to thank all for their prayers and donations to the recent El Salvador Mission Trip. Our team raised over $11,000 to provide funding to pour the concrete floor and purchase musical instruments for the church plus soccer equipment for area schools. Eight from the First Baptist Church of Tulare went on a 10 day mission trip to San José Ojos de Agua in El Salvador. While in El Salvador we helped pour a concrete floor (3,500 sq ft) in a church building. I was amazed how hard everyone (ages 8 to 80) from the area worked. The church building not only serves for church services, but as a multi-purpose building for the community.
The church serves the community in many ways as they have hosted medical consultations, workshops teaching a variety of skills, hosting meetings for the mayor's office and other community organizations. The town of San José Ojos de Agua greeted us with open arms. The town of approximately 2,000 is located in the foothills located in northeastern El Salvador (3 hours from the capital). just a few miles from the Sunpul River bordering Honduras. I have to say I was touched being on this trip not only by the people, but by God. Everyone was so friendly. Wednesday night at a church service I gave my testimony. I felt God with me while I spoke. Thank you again for all your support :-)
On November 25th, we hosted a soccer clinic for 45 of the area youth (ages 7 –12) at the town’s soccer field. The morning was divided in two parts, a clinic working on drills (I did penalty kicks and played goalie) then a soccer match broken down by age. It was so much fun for all especially me being involved in soccer again. Cannot wait for grandchildren to teach them soccer. :-)
